1. Minimum Required Documents
- Declaration for Registration: 02 copies, typed according to Form No. 03-KDCN Appendix A of Circular No. 01/2007/TT-BKHCN.
- Industrial Design Description: 01 copy including:
- Name of the industrial design.
- Field of use.
- Most similar industrial design (if applicable).
- List of photos or drawings.
- Detailed description.
- Scope of protection (or claim for protection).
- Photos or Drawings: 04 sets.
- Fee and Charge Receipts.
2. Additional Documents (if applicable)
- Power of Attorney (if filing through a representative).
- Assignment of the Right to File (if any).
- Documents Certifying the Lawful Right of Registration (if the applicant derives the right to file from another person).
- Priority Right Documents (if priority is claimed).
3. General Requirements for Applications
- Each application must request only one protection title corresponding to the industrial design.
- All documents must be in Vietnamese. Documents permitted in other languages must be translated.
- Documents must be in portrait format (except drawings, figures, charts, and tables, which may be in landscape) on A4-sized paper (210 mm x 297 mm) with 20 mm margins on all sides, using Times New Roman font (minimum size 13).
- Each document must be clear, printed in non-fading ink, free from erasures and modifications.
- Pages must be numbered in Arabic numerals.
- Terms must be commonly used words, following Vietnamese standards for symbols, measurement units, and spelling.
- Electronic data carriers may be included as part of the application.
4. Fees and Charges

5. Processing Time
- Formality Examination: Within 01 month from the filing date.
- Publication of the Application: Within 02 months after acceptance as a valid application.
- Substantive Examination: Within 07 months from the date of publication.
6. Application Filing Methods
The applicant can choose paper filing or online filing via the IPVN’s online public service portal.
a) Paper Filing
Applicants may submit applications in person or by postal service to:
- Head Office of IPVN: 386 Nguyen Trai, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi.
- Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City: 7th Floor, Ha Phan Building, 17/19 Ton That Tung, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
- Representative Office in Da Nang: 3rd Floor, 135 Minh Mang, Khue My Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang City.
For postal submissions, fees must be transferred via postal service, and a copy of the Money Transfer Receipt must be attached.
b) Online Filing
Conditions: Applicants must have a digital certificate, digital signature, and a registered account approved by the IPVN.
Procedure:
- Complete the application form on the IPVN Online Application Receiving System.
- Receive a confirmation of online submission.
- Submit the confirmation along with documents (if any) and pay required fees at an IPVN office within 01 month from the online submission date.
- If all required documents and fees are submitted, an application number is issued. If not, the application will be denied.
- Failure to complete the procedure results in cancellation, and a notice is sent via the online system.
